(GaeaTimes.com) — Inspite of the efforts made by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) officials, the death toll caused by asbestos continues to rise in Libby, Montana, LA Times reported.
Asbestos fibers coming out of a vermiculite mine is the sole reason behind the severe illness of the local residents. Asbestos causes a rare form of cancer called Mesothelioma. Many people have already died as they inhaled asbestos substances.
Meanwhile, EPA has stated that Libby is free from asbestos and it is cleaner than ever before. Ted Linnert, an EPA official said, “What we want to do on the ground will effectively break the exposure pathway. It can be the most toxic thing on Earth, but no one can be exposed to it.” ...
